50 Years a Rotarian

In mid December the club celebrated the 50 years of Rotary service of our Past President Claude Whitehead.

Twenty Past Presidents joined the club members and guests to celebrate, with Claude, his years of service to the community and to Rotary.

Claude initially joined the Rotary Club of Loxton while he was working there in the Savings Bank of SA. On transferring as manager to the Tea Tree Gully bank branch, he joined Tea Tree Gully Rotary, just a couple of weeks after the Club had been chartered, June 1975.

During the evening President Ray presented Claude with a framed letter from World President of Rotary International, Holger Knaack, who said:

“Congratulations on your 50 years of service.  Your continued passion for Rotary inspires us all.  We all love Rotary because we all love people, and Rotary gives us an opportunity to connect in a community of shared values, built on a foundation of friendship, and commitment to Service Above Self.

It is because of active and engaged members like you that Rotary Opens Opportunities.
Thank you for your dedication to community service and being part of the Rotary family
“.

Claude was then presented with a letter from the Honourable Tony Zappia MP, Federal Member for Makin, congratulating him for his 50 years of service to Rotary International and his contribution to the community, making it a better place to live in.

In addition, Claude was awarded a South Australian Parliamentary Medal by Dr Richard Harvey MP, Member for Newland, to acknowledge Claude’s 50 years of outstanding service to Rotary.
